Rednano Skin Collection

Before video production class, I set off to SPH in the morning to collect my free laptop skin.

I approached the reception counter and sighted 2 female receptionists: one 40+, and the other is 20 or 30 plus (I can't really recall.)

I was like wearing t-shirt and shorts only and I didn't expect anyone to take much notice of me.

I started saying to one of them: Hi, I'm here to......

And I got cut off by one of them saying: Oh, you're here for the photo shoot is it?

I was caught by surprise on the spot. How much I really wanted to say YES!

But in the end I had to disappoint her by saying: Er no. I'm just here to collect my REDnano laptop skin.

GRRR.

How I WISH.

I was waiting for like 10 minutes for bus 157 to arrive outside the SPH. And when one finally came, I was like: Thank god you are finally here!

So I just boarded it and complacently found a comfy place to sit and began one of my sms-ing session. After a few minutes, I knew I had to look up because I heard some murmurs and grumbling coming from the other commuters. They were sorta in a little commotion with the bus uncle. And I was staring at them like: Huh? What in the world just happened?

And then I realised that the bus didn't even leave the bus-stop at all. -.-

WTH. I looked around at the others and was wondering if someone could enlighten me on what was going on.

By this time there was already a little queue formed in front of the exit door. Then the bus uncle started to print out tickets from the red and blue machine. I thought to myself: Okay, don't tell me that I've gotta get off the bus too.

My suspicions were confirmed when the Indian guy sitting opposite me started to stand up and say to me: Aiya, the bus just broke down...

Then I just gave him a bitter smile and agreed with him, still unwilling to accept the fact that I had to WAIT for another bus to come and save us. Having already tapped my ez-link card doesn't bother me, since I have already bought concession. But damn it, I've gotta WASTE TIME and WAIT for another blooody bus to come. And yeah, I'm gonna be late for class at this rate!!!

Firstly, my bus broke down. And now this: I missed getting down at the King Albert Park's bus stop! And the next bus stop is a one-way traffic, so there was no 'opposite bus-stop' for me to get back to KAP.

And so the only feasible way was to get a cab. Eh, I wanted to save money de leh. And now I've got to pay more than 5 bucks for the cab fare. Just from Bukit Timah Plaza area to NP! The cab meter says it's $5.20, but the uncle tells me still have to pay 30cents more. I was like: Eh, uncle, I've just read last week's newspapers and they say that taxi companies cancelled off the 30-cent oil surcharge leh.

FINE. I'm late already (even if it's that 5 minutes), I don't wanna argue with him just for that mere THIRTY CENTS.

After I finish 2 presentations this thursday, Global Issues lecturette in the morning, and radio presentation in the afternoon, I'll a a few steps closer to feeling less stressed-out.

Korea Festival Opening Ceremony

Yesterday was the Opening Ceremony of Korea Festival 2008. Lucky me and my omma arrived at Vivo City early, if not we will not be able to get any good seats.

There were many many koreans, ranging from members of the Korean Community to family members of the ambassadors from the Embassy of Korea.

Hosted by Channel NewsAsia's Suzanne Jung, the ceremony begins with welcome
greetings from Minister George Yeo and Ambassador Kim. Enjoy sizzling
performances from B-Boy and drum troupes, followed by the symbolic mixing of a
'Big Bowl of Bi-Bim-Bap' to signify harmonious ties between Singapore and Korea.
Bi-Bim-Bap will be served to guests after the ceremony.

Fusion Drum Performance by Dodo. 5 Korean ladies delivering the rousing heartbeat of traditional Korean drum performance.

B-Boy Showdown by Last For One. They were the winners if the 2007 World UK B-Boy Championship.

Their sensational moves thrilled everyone!

Next, there was Bi-bim-bap mixing! It's the largest scale seen in Singapore so far...

The VIPs getting ready to mix up the ingredients. It is enough to feed 500 hundred people.

But of cause, the VIPs won't mix the ingrdients REALLY well, so we still have a few chefs doing some final touch-ups...

You may be thinking: Who on earth would eat such disgusting-looking food?!

Mind you. This bibimbap is exactly 24 differents ingredients mixed up together. What do you expect it to look like?!

The angle of this photo makes it look as if the portion is little, but actually it's quite a lot!

Yes, It's spicy due to the red pepper paste. But this kind of hotness is sill more endurable than the red chilli kind of hot. Well, at least I didn't have to drink water to reduce the spicy feeling in my mouth.

But anyway it's still yummy! If you leave out the part where the Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister and his wife had a go in doing the initial mixing, this is AUTHENTIC Korean food okay.

After that 'little' photoshoot session, I was approached by a cameraman. (Obviously a korean.) I was interviewed for a few minutes: How did I feel wearing the costume, why did I choose this particular one, blah blah blah. It's either one of these 3 Korea TV stations that interviewed me: SBS, KBS, MBC.

Woots! I'm a lucky girl XD

Continuity Video Project

I've been M.I.A on blogger for quite some time. YES I know.

Today we started filming and have FINISHED filming for our little project entitled "The Coke".

Thanks to everyone being so cooperative, so in the end managed to finish filming in 2 hours.

Now I really do realize how tiring filming how can be. So everyone who were involved today, XIN KU LE!!

And I've still got a bloody storyboard to draw. There popped out so many expected shots luh, as compared to the original number of expected shots (which were only 12).

But oh well, I just can't wait to edit and see the final product. Heheh. Be patient, Shirley. Next week, next week...





Halloween and the Eve, is gonna be packed with many tasks:

1) Rehearsing for radio presentation (stress, stress...)
2) Red Camp PANDA committee meeting (I've still yet to come up with a list of materials that can be used to decorate the room, PLUS the budget list...)
3) Interview at Orchard (hopefully I won't look so haggard after a long day at school)




I also look forward to meeting Bob, the photographer of My Paper. He'll be teaching us photography :)

UFM 1003 Finals

Last Sunday was the finals for the UFM 100.3 DJ Hunt competition!

If it wasn't that YJ was one for the top 10 finalists, I wouldn't have been able to go backstage and have a seat in the RESTRICTED area. :)

UFM 1003 Open Auditions 2008

Last Sunday, the 1st UFM 1003 Open Audition was held at Compass point. I thought I was going to be late so I cabbed there. Cost me $8, if I don't remember wrongly.




I was the first few contestants to up (6th to be exact), so wasn't prepared for their Situation Question la. It was something about Andy Lau forgetting to zip up his pants during some event. Then I was supposed to act out how I would tell him about this without embarrassing him in front of the 'supposedly-present' audience. I was indeed caught by surprise! I didn't expect this kind of situation would be posed to me, so I wasn't at all prepared for it.



After the results were announced, a staff from UFM 1003 came over to me and told me that I had NEARLY gotten into the semi-finals because I was supposed to be the 9th (8 contestants were chosen to get in the semi.) Oh well, I must have lost marks in the Situation Question. So she asked me if I was going to the 2nd round of the open audition, because I was SO CLOSE in getting a place in the semi-finals. I thought: Why not? So I agreed to turn up and compete again 1 week later. However, I already knew there would be even more contestants competing, and even MORE competitive ones.





And I was right! Today, there were 66 contestants who signed to compete in the final round of the open auditions. I found out that I was the 54th contestant when I went to the table to get the sticker tag. Oh gawd, I'm SO not going to be so lucky, I'm definitly not gonna have much chance to get into the semi-finals this time round...





Just before it was my turn, there was a rather quite long interval. All I remembered was that I was standing at the side of the platform waiting, my heart thumping so hard, my left hand trying to hide my quivering right hand...




Yeah. That's the sort-of 'stage fright' I'll experience in every competition that'll require to talk in front of an unknown crowd of audience.




I just wanted to gain more experience, hoping that I can someday overcome the fear of competing in front of so many eyes which are staring at you. I wasn't too concerned about winning anyway.





There was a contestant who was from China. She had been a news reporter for 4 years, and 1 year's experience in hosting or something. She mentioned something which I didn't really understand at first: Having the ability to compete doesn't mean that you are suited for that job nature; being an expertise in a particular job doesn't mean that you are competition material.





When I finally arrived home after a 1-hour bus trip (it was really horrible, my motion sickness acted up halfway again...), it finally dawned upon me that the above 'theory' was right. I finally understood what the China contestant meant. Yes, I'm confident of being able to do well in the media industry, whether it is the radio or tv. But I admit that everytime I'm in front of a large crowd during a competition, I'll start feeling stressed, and I'll be so nervous all over. If it was just the judges and me, I wouldn't be such a nervous freak.









Oh well. What's meant to be mine is mine, whatever that isn't wouldn't belong to me anyway.






Just like what mum said last night when she opened the main gate and let one of my cats run away. I don't why, but I wasn't feeling at all worried when we were looking all over for him. I just had the feeling that he would come back to us.










Just as I was going to turn in for the night, my mum told me she couldn't sleep (must be because she feels that it's all her fault for letting the cat run away), and so she went out again at 10pm, so that she could relax and walk outside. Oh well, I knew that she would be going to try her luck to see if she would be able to find him.









Alas, mum came back and woke me up. (I was feeling so groggy, so didn't really take a look at the clock to see what time it was.) She found him. I KNEW it. But still, it was rather a relief to me. At least mum wouldn't have to continue to blame herself for losing the cat.









Anyway, Alleluia! All thanks to the Lord for bringing him home safe and sound...









After the audition last Sunday, YJ and I had dinner at Bugis Junction.










After that we went to a private party organised by the Cozycot people. It was the last day, and also the last hour before the party officially ended. It was already 8pm when we arrived at Parkview Square. (I even thought that it was some 5-star hotel! But the bar waitress told us that it was just a commericial building -.- What a waste it was actually, if you ask me. It should be a hotel instead la, so grand.)









Anyway, it was closing time, so of course we quickly registered our names and got our goody bags. I didn't expect to get SO many. In the end, we made 2 trips back and forth the main level and the 3rd floor, so we had MANY bags in hand. We couldn't take home all that anyway, so we finally gave away 4 bags in total to the bar waitresses, and also 2 bags (bottles of water la) to the toilet staff at Bugis. Haha, this shows that we're not totally greedy okay, we're generous too :p

It was such a chore organising the goodies, but it was all worth it :)

Cleo Makeover Shoot

Went for a shoot at Orchard a few days ago.




I didn't have to put any make-up at all before going out, so just had to put on my shades. Save me the trouble of putting any concealer at all. Haha.

The make-up artist did a quick and good job! I loved the way she did my make-up. The make-up wasn't really thick but I liked the way it was anyway :)

The hair stylist was even faster: he took like only around 5 minutes to style my hair? At first someone wanted my hair in a 'mohawk' kind of style, but in the end to be on the safe side, the hair stylist didn't do anything 'wild' to my hair.

Although the white top was nothing 'extravagant', and was nothing like my usual style, it went well with my denim shorts, and looked simple yet elegant. I like :)

While I was waiting for the photographer, there was this caucasian family and the 3 of them were smiling and pointing at me! I always thought that all of those white-skin people with sharp noses were the so-called 'superior race' with the nicest features. But I never knew that they too DO admire asian people like me. Their compliments really made my day :)

In the end I spent nearly $200 in 2 days, with over $80 solely on Laneige products. (Money fly away~)

But I got these freebies in return, so I didn't really complain much.
