Birthday meaning and MSN conversation

I was fooling around with the facebook applications yesterday, and I came across this thing. You had to enter the day, month and year of your birthday, and they will tell you the meaning of your own birthday! I believed very in much horoscope and those stuff, so I definitely gave it a try. No harm right.

Yeah. What a spot-on. All that I wanted to think I was like that. But I am right, RIGHT?

And I changed my display picture on MSN yesterday. This is it.

And just had this conversation with a photographer:

Jace Tan says:
nice DP

Mi-Young says:
lol. thanks

Jace Tan says:
who is the art director for yr DP picture? nice
concept.. lots of effort

Mi-Young says:
someone took the photo for me, i did the DI

Mi-Young says:
haha. my MUAs and assistant thought of this

Jace Tan says:
wah, u must be a super hot model... got assistants siah

Mi-Young says:
i had a team of like 5 or 6 ppl that day

Mi-Young says:
but we're all students, no pros

Jace Tan says:
sounds like faye wong...

Jace Tan says:
anyway... its gd...

(yeah. I liquified my face to make it look slimmer. I think I overdone it. Just get me botox la! Then don't need so much photoshop next time... Save the trouble.)

Peaceful moments; nothing on my mind

I practically lazed my whole day in the house today. But not in my own house this time. I went up to the North with mummy to an old lady's house, who is also a good friend of hers.

Besides sitting by the window, enjoying the wind, playing DJ Max 2 on my psp, there was nothing that I did. Yes, I did nothing constructive for the whole 5 hours. Pure relaxation. For those peaceful moments, which were really rare cos mummy wasn't nagging at me for playing psp, I imagined I was in a foreign.

Yeah. Just one of my daydreams again. I was staying at Grandma's house in the countryside, one with just trees and nature all around, and I'm riding on this horse. IF ONLY.

I had brought my notes to study for an upcoming test, but all I read was 2 pages.
Then I started to get bored.

And so I began to camwhore.

I'm a hardworking student ok! RIGHT.

'The Little Red Dress' Shoot on Sunday

Yesterday was the shoot for someone's 'The Little Red Dress' photography competition.

I'm utterly disappointed in that someone's attitude. Totally.

Remember I was saying that the prizes will be some reeeally expensive lens? And he come and tell me: They are JUST lens la. Said it like it was no big deal to him. And you're still using a Nikon D40 camera? Hello?! Then you should be aiming for these lens right? Since they're so expensive and I'm sure anyone will be glad to just add them to their collection, or just to sell them off to someone else to earn some extra moolahs.

When the Muas were busy at work, you keep on repeating yourself that you want this over and done with, because your final-year-paper (fyp) is much more important than this competition, and are already 2 months back in time. Then let me ask you: Why did you join this in the first place? You should considered all the factors, like the time and effort going to be spent, so on and so forth.

Eh, don't keep on rushing the Muas lah. If not they come ALL the way to AMK for what? You say: Aiya, don't need eyeliner la, don't need mascara la etc, like that can already... Excuse me. The Muas are trying their best to do makeup for us models properly, and here you are rushing and pressurising us. If you are sooo concerned about your fyp, just go back up to your house and do la, when we are done with our makeup then we call you down. Instead of pacing up and down, making inconsiderate remarks about you having to complete your fyp, why don't you just sit still, keep quiet, and think of what kind of images you want later?

You expect the shoot to be in 1 hour or so. This sounds ok enough. But you keep on asking the Muas to do makeup faster. That's not-so-ok. Stop rushing us and let the Muas do their work in peace. Is that too much to ask of you?

Seems like you don't know what kind of images you want huh? Ask models what we want to do, what kind of makeup can the MUAs do... And when the MUAs asked if whether you will be taking headshots or not, it's obvious that they need a few of that to add in to their portfolio! So of cause, first and foremost, you need to take some headshots of us right after we do makeup, right? And those shots of JL and the tree scenes, of cause the photos will look dark lah, because the model is back facing the sun. Then I told you maybe you can turn up the exposure. Or if cannot change direction, then maybe change to some other tree or location?

Still say camera cannot focus. And furthermore you're shooting in a program mode. Maybe you can't do a fully manual mode yet. But at least an aperture-priority or shutter-priority mode? Hey, you claimed to have been shooting for 3 years leh. If I just picked up photography a few months back, and already know all the basic techniques and terms a novice should know, how come you don't even know something as simple as an 'ant's view shot'?

I should have brought my canon rebel along. I swear I can take better shots and have better photo composition sense then you do.

Newer models like me or JL expect to be learning something from the photographer during a shoot. But instead, I feel like I AM the one who's teaching you things.

*shakes head*

This is simply not the way it should be lah.

I'll be waiting for the final product to come out. But considering that YOU still have your fyp to focus on, perhaps I can't be too impatient. But oh well, I can't expect too much either, unless your DI (digital imaging) is like superb.

You have been online everyday before the shoot, but ever since then, I don't see you online leh. Maybe just a way of escaping from others (models and MUAs) pestering the photographer for the photos...

Somemore choosing a time near to noon, when the sun is so glaring and scorching. Damn, I hate getting all sweaty and smelling...

More winter clothes, meeting with A.

Wooh!

I went shopping again! More winter clothes. This time it was with Mummy. So I didn't have to come up with the money. Haha.

WANKO is having a post christmas sales! 62.% discount. A lot ok. From an original total of $400++, it went down to $170+. Got so many steals luh. I feel like I'm a big winner today.

Then went down to meet Al from Eleganz. There was this other girl called Martina at the meeting too. There was this Avant Garde theme photo shoot going on at the studio. The model is damn tall and pro can. Because she's a caucasian mah. So cool luh. I could never have her height :( *sobs*

Was just chatting on MSN with the photographer and one of the MUAs regarding tomorrow's shoot. And we just spent ONE freaking hour just to talk about what time should I meet. Damn. I already said I CAN reach at 9am, but this girl insisted that she wants me to reach at 10am. Eh, I don't mind already leh, you still argue that I should come later instead?

Fine. Let's just see how it goes tomorrow.

Still holiday, photo shoots coming...

This is already the 2nd week of my holidays, but I feel that I haven't been doing anything much at all. Like totally neglecting everything.

I'm either shopping, eating and more shopping for the whole day.

Or else I'd be lazing around at home. YES. For the entire day again.

Will be going for a few photo shoots soon. I'm kind enough to help out someone in taking part this "Little Red Dress" photography competition. Prizes will be some effing expensive lens. Probably like nearly a thousand dollars just for ONE lens?!

Yeah. That's just about the price I got for my Canon Rebel. No way...

Another will be an interesting theme. It'll be nice to imitate the movie Mission Impossible. Hah. I wonder if I can even pull it off.

Do C and me decided to follow the others to St James (J drove us there), then get a cab from there. But it was only until 3.45 before we actually decided to get home.

The whole bunch of us didnt have to pay! :D

Well, so much for an experience.

So I've only woken up at noon to blog.

And I've still gotta go to sph later.

I'm still deprived of a good rest! :(

vPOST makes me v(ERY)...

vPOST makes me v(ERY) ECSTATIC!

Shopping is the pasttime of almost every women! (Well, unless you simply cannot stand walking around for hours and trying out different outfits and shoes.)

Everytime I am really bent on buying something, and must die-die buy something home no matter what, I always end up with no shopping bags when I go home. :(

BUT. Whenever I windowshop and don't plan to spend any money, I ALWAYS see something I fancy and end up parting with my cash. *money flies away*

In the past, my mother has always told me to go to the changing room to try out a dress or shirt, even if my mind is already set on buying it. She's just afraid that it will be abandoned later when I try it at home and find out that it doesn't really seem as nice afterall.

I kinda find it troublesome to go the changing room and change and change and change -.-

It was only after I graduated from sec school that I was introduced to the online world of shopping.

Ever since I was in poly, I got my very first POSB card. Yes, I know, very slow huh. But I went to apply for it all for the sake of shopping! Online shopping normally requires you to do funds transferring (unless you're doing meetups, which I think is a waste of time). So of cos the very first thing I knew that I had to do was to get hold of my own POSB card!

Having shopped on numerous of sprees from hong kong or korea, something struck me:
Why must I let those blogshop owners to earn all those extra little money when I can do shipping myself?!

Plus, I was already more inclined to the western goods like GoJane, Victoria's Secret, Juicy Couture and etc etc.

vPOST of cos is the answer to my shopping cravings!

Not only am I able to get my clothes and whatnots from USA and UK and have it all sent to my house directly, I can also save time and money leh!

Good hor, I don't even have to take the trouble to meetup with all those blogshop owners in order to save on postage.

That's why they call it 'Retail Therapy' :)

Self Entertaining Lesson

Okay. This just one of the MANY pictures that we took while we were having Mr Danny Yeo's lesson last week. The whole series were taken by my laptop's integrated cam, so thus the low quality.
I was initially only using it as a 'mirror' to see if my fringe was out of place. And the next thing I knew, we busily posing in front of the cam and snapping away. You can't blame us for feeling so restless till the point that we had to do such a SILLY thing like this right.
It all started off pretty normal at first...

Then Aaron got even MORE bored...

So bored to the extent that he started eating paper...

Still the usual smiles and poses...

Then we got a little bit more crazy...

Aaron: Is this how you do the 莲花指?

Aaron: Yeh! I know how to de le!

怪叔叔...

Then all hell broke lose!

Aaron act cute... we also follow!

And admist all these 'excitement', Mr YT was unaware of the comotion and remained asleep...

Classic.

Rednano Skin Collection

Before video production class, I set off to SPH in the morning to collect my free laptop skin.

I approached the reception counter and sighted 2 female receptionists: one 40+, and the other is 20 or 30 plus (I can't really recall.)
I was like wearing t-shirt and shorts only and I didn't expect anyone to take much notice of me.

I started saying to one of them: Hi, I'm here to......

And I got cut off by one of them saying: Oh, you're here for the photo shoot is it?

I was caught by surprise on the spot. How much I really wanted to say YES!

But in the end I had to disappoint her by saying: Er no. I'm just here to collect my REDnano laptop skin.

GRRR.

How I WISH.

I was waiting for like 10 minutes for bus 157 to arrive outside the SPH. And when one finally came, I was like: Thank god you are finally here!

So I just boarded it and complacently found a comfy place to sit and began one of my sms-ing session. After a few minutes, I knew I had to look up because I heard some murmurs and grumbling coming from the other commuters. They were sorta in a little commotion with the bus uncle. And I was staring at them like: Huh? What in the world just happened?

And then I realised that the bus didn't even leave the bus-stop at all. -.-

WTH. I looked around at the others and was wondering if someone could enlighten me on what was going on.

By this time there was already a little queue formed in front of the exit door. Then the bus uncle started to print out tickets from the red and blue machine. I thought to myself: Okay, don't tell me that I've gotta get off the bus too.

My suspicions were confirmed when the Indian guy sitting opposite me started to stand up and say to me: Aiya, the bus just broke down...
Then I just gave him a bitter smile and agreed with him, still unwilling to accept the fact that I had to WAIT for another bus to come and save us. Having already tapped my ez-link card doesn't bother me, since I have already bought concession. But damn it, I've gotta WASTE TIME and WAIT for another blooody bus to come. And yeah, I'm gonna be late for class at this rate!!!

Firstly, my bus broke down. And now this: I missed getting down at the King Albert Park's bus stop! And the next bus stop is a one-way traffic, so there was no 'opposite bus-stop' for me to get back to KAP.

And so the only feasible way was to get a cab. Eh, I wanted to save money de leh. And now I've got to pay more than 5 bucks for the cab fare. Just from Bukit Timah Plaza area to NP! The cab meter says it's $5.20, but the uncle tells me still have to pay 30cents more. I was like: Eh, uncle, I've just read last week's newspapers and they say that taxi companies cancelled off the 30-cent oil surcharge leh.

FINE. I'm late already (even if it's that 5 minutes), I don't wanna argue with him just for that mere THIRTY CENTS.

After I finish 2 presentations this thursday, Global Issues lecturette in the morning, and radio presentation in the afternoon, I'll a a few steps closer to feeling less stressed-out.

Korea Festival Opening Ceremony

Yesterday was the Opening Ceremony of Korea Festival 2008. Lucky me and my omma arrived at Vivo City early, if not we will not be able to get any good seats.

There were many many koreans, ranging from members of the Korean Community to family members of the ambassadors from the Embassy of Korea.

Hosted by Channel NewsAsia's Suzanne Jung, the ceremony begins with welcome
greetings from Minister George Yeo and Ambassador Kim. Enjoy sizzling
performances from B-Boy and drum troupes, followed by the symbolic mixing of a
'Big Bowl of Bi-Bim-Bap' to signify harmonious ties between Singapore and Korea.
Bi-Bim-Bap will be served to guests after the ceremony.

Fusion Drum Performance by Dodo. 5 Korean ladies delivering the rousing heartbeat of traditional Korean drum performance.

B-Boy Showdown by Last For One. They were the winners if the 2007 World UK B-Boy Championship.

Their sensational moves thrilled everyone!

Next, there was Bi-bim-bap mixing! It's the largest scale seen in Singapore so far...
The VIPs getting ready to mix up the ingredients. It is enough to feed 500 hundred people.

But of cause, the VIPs won't mix the ingrdients REALLY well, so we still have a few chefs doing some final touch-ups...

You may be thinking: Who on earth would eat such disgusting-looking food?!
Mind you. This bibimbap is exactly 24 differents ingredients mixed up together. What do you expect it to look like?!

The angle of this photo makes it look as if the portion is little, but actually it's quite a lot!

Yes, It's spicy due to the red pepper paste. But this kind of hotness is sill more endurable than the red chilli kind of hot. Well, at least I didn't have to drink water to reduce the spicy feeling in my mouth.

But anyway it's still yummy! If you leave out the part where the Singapore Foreign Affairs Minister and his wife had a go in doing the initial mixing, this is AUTHENTIC Korean food okay.

Lee Young Ae wore it...

Angela Zhang Shao Han wore it too!

And so am I wearing the Physician Lady's hanbok! :D

This is what the queen (on the left) wore in the drama.

And my omma wearing it too! Hah. My QUEEN.

I think this is the only scene where you can see Jang Geum wearing the third-rank official hanbok, together with the queen...

And so you see it again!

The royal descendents. Hah.

I'm a happy Korean girl :D

After that 'little' photoshoot session, I was approached by a cameraman. (Obviously a korean.) I was interviewed for a few minutes: How did I feel wearing the costume, why did I choose this particular one, blah blah blah. It's either one of these 3 Korea TV stations that interviewed me: SBS, KBS, MBC.
Woots! I'm a lucky girl XD
